How to find correlation coefficient between two variables in Microsoft Excel / Use of CORREL function (formula) in Microsoft Excel

Use of CORREL function in Microsoft Excel:

This function in Microsoft Excel tells you how strongly two variables are related to each other .
We can use this function to find correlation coefficient between two variables such as a value between two -1 and +1.

Syntax/Formula:


The syntax of CORREL function in Microsoft Excel is below.


=CORREL(array1,array2)


Examples 1:


Step 1: First type 1 in cell B5, 2 in cell B6, 3 in cell B7, 4 in cell B8, 5 in cell B9, 3 in cell C5, 4 in cell C6, 5 in cell C7, 6 in cell C8, and 7 in cell C9 as per shown in below image.


Step 2: Type formula =CORREL(B5:B9,C5:C9) and press enter.

Step 1: First type 1 in cell B15, 2 in cell B16, 3 in cell B17, 4 in cell B18 5 in cell B9, 5 in cell C15, 6 in cell C16, 7 in cell C17, 8 in cell C18, and 9 in cell C19 as per shown in below image.

Step 2: Type formula =CORREL(B15:B19,C15:C19) and press enter.

Step 2: Type formula =CORREL(B25:B29,C25:C29) and press enter.
